Although we're usually pretty focused on pelicans, that doesn't mean we don't notice the other species sharing these colonies. I'd like to take a moment to honor some of the chicks we've seen growing up over the past few months. I've hidden the photo captions so that you can guess what they are... some are more obvious than others. Highlight the box directly under the photo with your mouse to see if you're right!
#1 Roseate spoonbill fledgling, Shamrock Island (okay, that one was easy)
#2 Black skimmer chick, near our home base in Rockport
#3 White ibis chick, Chester Island
#4 Laughing gull fledgling, North Deer Island
#5 Sooty tern fledgling, Shamrock Island
#6 Brown pelican fledgling, North Deer Island
#7 Brown pelican fledglings, Shamrock Island(... well, I didn't want you to think I'd forgotten about them.)
How many did you get?
